Hello,
I just wanted to thank the people who sent me suggestions et al for the
interest question I posted about a week ago. The general consensus was
that the open projects were a good idea... which shouldn't be too
difficult to set up (see below).
I learned a little more about the program at a luncheon yesterday for
all student organizations... the students will not only be expected to
get 5-10 service hours a semester, they will also be required to be in
an organizational setting which provides for a particular "learning
goal". I was delighted to learn that Leadership was one of these
learning goals. It sounds like a stronger leadership development
program within the chapter is going to be a priority for next
semester...
Also, another wonderful side effect of the program (in my opinion) is
that we are going to need to have our 1st seven weeks of the next
semester planned out by April 23rd. I know that won't be very easy,
because a lot of the organizations we work with can't work with that
much time.... but we'll get our information on events out to the entire
school on the campus information channel, as well as to the freshman
class in particular. Talk about your increased communication. :-)
It's going to be difficult, but I think we can manage to hold on to
quite a few of these students... and make them into productive
brothers. Thanks again for everyone's responses...
