Please pass along to all interested parties:
I just thought i would send this out one more time and extend the deadline
to March 15th. That is around my Spring Break so I will be able to
coordinate everything at that time. plus this will give chapters another
couple weeks to discuss trying the program. it have been endorsed by
several RD's and SC's, and I hope it will be a sucess, but it wont work
with out participating chapters. so consider the program you have nothing
lose and much to gain in the form of information and expericance of other
chapters.

> I would like to present the exCITE (Chapter Information Through
> Exchange) program. (thank you Spirit, of Epsilon Sigma, for the name) This
> is a small pet project of mine that I hope to role over into a regular
> Service project for Alpha Gamma Eta Chapter (University of Vermont) this
> spring and beyond. The general principle for the program is very similar
> to that of a Sister City Program.
>
> Participation: By Mar 15th please send an email to aphio@zoo.uvm.edu
(one
> per chapter)with the following information:
>
> Chapter Letters:
> School Name:
> Region:
> Section:
> Chapter Email:
> * Note leave blank if chapter account auto-forwards to all members*
> Chapter Snail Mail:
> Chapter Website:
> Primary Contact Name:
> * Note usually Corresponding Secretary*
> Primary Contact Email:
> Is the chapter considered to be introverted or extraverted:
>
> It is very important this has full Chapter thing, not just one or two
> brothers. Please check with your chapters before submitting the
> information. The way the program works is all those chapters who submitted
> the above information will be paired with another. These chapters will be
> Companion Chapters throughout the program with information on the 2
> chapter initially exchanged by Alpha Gamma Eta and posted on the exCITE
> HomePage located off the Alpha Gamma Eta HomePage
> (http://www.uvm.edu/~aphio). The rest is then up to the companion
> chapters. We will try this for a semester as a trial period. If the
> feedback is good and everyone thinks its worth continuing, then chapters
> will be re-paired for a full year, at the end of which, chapters can
> choose to stay with their current Companion Chapter or go back into the
> pool and be repaired, allowing for new learning opportunities.
>
> The opportunities are endless. Some benefits, (certainly not an complete
> list)
>
> Exchange of styles
> E-board information exchanges
> -Pres to Pres communications, SVP->SVP, etc
> exchange of fellowship ideas, service plans, leadership issues
> Sharing in celebrations
> Concurrent service projects (ie doing similar projects on the same day)
> Penpals between members Valentines/other holiday gift exchanges
>
> An example: Chapter ABC of section 143 in Region -3 gets paired with
> Chapter XYZ of Section -6 in Region 212. The SVPs of both chapters
> exchange service ideas and thoughts on planning current projects. For Flag
> Day ABC chapter makes little flags for all the members of XYZ Chapter. On
> Feb 22nd both chapters go to their local hospitals and read to sick
> children, the paper the next morning in both cities reads "APhiO creates
> smiles across the U.S." After a year the chapters agree they had fun, but
> agree to expand their knowledge more and take on different Companion
> Chapters, of course never loosing touch with each other though.
>
> The main goal of the program is to get information flowing between
> chapters who may never get a chance to interact except randomly at
> nationals. I learned at this past convention that chapters in other
> regions across the nation do things very differently. We can all learn
> from each others experiences and traditions. This Program is not meant to
> replace current contacts and support systems (staff, other chapters), but
> complement them. I often find comfort in someone who is removed from a
> situation and sometimes that involves crossing regional boundaries.
>
> Communication is good and I feel this will be a useful aid for our
> chapters, as well realize the wealth of information that can be found in
> the brothers across the U.S. Who knows, very soon one of you may be
> paired with the Alpha Chapter of Canada (AGEs little brother
> chapter(petitioning group)). I hope you consider this within your
> chapters. It could be an extremely valuable and enjoyable learning
> experience.
