My name is Derek Ryan and I am a member of the Alpha Rho chapter at
the University of Texas. I rarely post to this (but read a large majority
of the messsages sent), but this time I felt that I had to say something.
A few weeks ago one of our chapter's members sent something to this
listserve that was more than likely not appropriate to be posted here. I
am saddened to say that several people sent messages to this member stating
this. Some of these messages were outright rude, insensitive, and
condescending. I was absolutely shocked to hear this!!! While I only know
four of five people who are members of this listserve, I consider everyone
on here a brother. It saddens me to think that some of my own brothers
would treat their brothers like this. Whatever happened to the FRIENDSHIP
part of our three cardinal principles? I am ashamed that this behavior
took place. I feel that the only action that should have taken place was
that the listserver administrator should have sent a message to this
member...not numerous random people!!!
Now this member has unsubscribed to this listserve, so you need not
worry about her offending you anymore! Those of you that enjoy degrading
members can find someone else to do this to. And if you feel like saying
something about this message, please do so personally instead of cluttering
up everyone's APO-L mailbox. In closing just remember that people make
mistakes from time to time. If something is sent that is inappropriate,
just hit the delete key and forget about it! It's not that hard!
I apologize for my tone. I am just a little upset about this matter.
