UGH. Obviously this was a private matter that should not been brought up on
this list. Brother Strong & RD need to talk & come to an understanding &
let's drop the subject. OK?

Regarding the pledge period... Personally I feel that chapters who are
experiencing extreme losses in members SHOULD make changes in their pledge
program to promote growth in the chapter. I have seen a chapter approach
extinction (Columbus State Community College) and by having a relaxed pledge
program (letting the period extend or shorten as necessary) it has become
stronger. Commuter chapters REQUIRE flexibility!! Brother Grossi
complained that these people may not be knowledgeable brothers as a result.
I totally disagree on this. I have served as a pledge trainer & seen a wide
range in the results of an extensive training period. Some brothers just
don't get it until they are an active. New actives depend on existing
actives & advisors to teach them as they grow in the chapter. This
fraternity does have hard & fast rules, ie NO hazing... but- if this
organization is to thrive on every campus in the US we must be flexible.

Now could all of this bickering please stop? :-)
