Hi there, folks. Here's an idea...rather than having a "winner" from the
previous Sectional Conference present their Chapter's roll call, why not
just have Sectional Roll Calls? I believe this was a fairly heavily
debated idea among the folks preparing the '96 Convention in Phoenix (if
I recall correctly), and I think this is perhaps the best solution. If
you have it done by section, and limit it to two minutes per
performance...BANG...it's down to approx. two hours, give or take a few
"miscalculations". Personally, if we're going to change the way roll call
is done, this would be my suggestion.

The good points of this suggestion? It prevents a "distorted" view by
allowing collaboration among the Chapters in the Section to "put their
best foot forward." Also, it drops the time requirement for Roll Call.

Bad points? Well, there's the coordination issue, and there's the stage
space issue. Some sections send many, many, many, many folks, while
others send only a few. But this could actually be said about the
Chapters as well.

As a mild disclaimer, I understand the complexities in putting together a
sectional roll call...Section 8 is by far one of the most "geographically
diverse" sections in APO/APhiO/APhiOm. It's a fact that we deal with on a
regular basis. But I don't think it would be too terribly difficult for
folks to get together sometime before the convention (yes, even if it's on
the 26th -- Gamma Alpha was at times notorious for putting together roll
calls "on demand") to put together a quick roll call involving all those
attending from each section.

Anyway...to borrow from Dennis Miller, "That's my opinion...I could be
wrong."
