Brothers,
While I am opposed to limiting the ability of alumni to submit legislation,
I make the following observations:
1) I agree, with absolutely, NO reservations, that the majority of
legislation should come from our Active brothers and/or the chapters.
2) Alumni, whether members of the Board or Section staff or *ADVISORS* to
chapters, have a vested and direct interest in the policy-making that
occurs during the legislative session.
It would seem to me that if you restrict the ability to submit proposals,
at least allow officially recognized alumni ASSOCIATIONS to submit
proposals. Some things directly affect us and we should be allowed to, at
the very least, submit proposals in those areas (advisor items, alumni
voting delegate stuff, alumni association, etc.) To me, that sounds like a
reasonable compromise (though I would still prefer the open style of
submission we have now.)
So, in addition to the list I saw earlier (chapters, active brothers,
regions, sections) I would add "alumni associations" to that list.
Just an idea.
