In response to REV's idea, while the webcam idea sounds neat, I do not
think it would be wise to record the legislative proceedings. As a
corporate entity, minutes are taken and they become the legal record and
I don't think we would want anything but the official record to be out
there (especially in the public domain).
At this past convention, I do know that there was the capability of an
audio recording being made through the sound system, however Wilfred
made a definitive "NO" when asked if it should be taped by the hotel's
sound technician. (For those wondering, this exchange took place while
the Sergeant-at-arms were going over the setup of the room before
legislation began.) I do not know if my above answer had anything to do
with Wilfred's response, but I suspect that this might be at least part
of the rationale.
On a different topic, as someone who has worked with SAA/Floor Services
for the past three conventions, I want to thank the voting delegates for
the resolution of thanks and standing ovation given at the close of
legislation. Having spoke afterward with the chairs and advisors of the
committee, I can tell you that they too were truly touched and
appreciative of the support and recognition.
