At the '96 Convention, I saw a varied state of dress for the banquets.  It
appeared to me that the final banquet (on the 30th) was more formal than the
first one (on the 28th, where one Chapter from our Section showed-up all
wearing the same t-shirt).  In both cases, the average was sportscoat and tie
for men (w/dress pants or khakis, not blue jeans) and dress or pantsuit for
women.  I didn't see any need for "formal" attire (I might have seen a tuxedo
and a couple of evening dresses, but they weren't the norm).
