To settle the debate about the letter from the Hyatt:
Here is what is going on.
The Hyatt only has a limited number of rooms with double beds. Ok, so in
order to serve us better they sent out the letter with the intention to
find out who would need a room with double beds and who will not. The
20 dollar fee is a one time fee that is charged to the reservation the
room is made in. So basically you pay 20 bucks to get rollaway beds for
the whole time you are there if you need them. They don't want to give
a room with a double bed to a group with only 2 people, they want to
save the double rooms for groups of like 4 or more.
As far as the wristband policy for new years eve is concerned, they only
want people who are registered guests at the Hyatt, to be romping around
the hotel's rooms on New years eve. This is a safety precaution to
prevent theft, and to keep unwanted visitors to the hotel out. You have
to understand that Minneapolis is a big city and it will be New years
eve, the biggest party night of the year.
If you are not staying at the Hyatt you will still be able to hang out
at the Hyatt, but just not in the Guest rooms. You will be confined to
the lobby and or other meeting rooms in the Hotel.
The Hyatt will not provide extra bed linens which is understandable,
because they will have around 2000 people staying in the hotel that
weekend, and probably do not have extra sheets or blankets laying
around.
The 20 dollar fee has been verified by Pat Burke at the National Office,
by one of the Region IV Staff. It is only a one time fee that is paid
by the people staying at the Hyatt.
