Brothers,
After spending twelve years in Gisl Scouts, there are a few things
that I belive need to be explained to those here who obviously have had
limited contact with them. First, this isn't like basketball where teh
boys' and girls' have basically the same rules and the game is played in
the same fashion. Girl Scouts are NOT related to Boy Scouts, in many
counties the program isn't even called Girl Scouts! They have different
ways of doing things. One way that Girl Scouts are notably different from
Boy Scouts is that they are very self relant. The Girl SCouting
organization tends to be very self contained. The girls are suppoesed to
do the fund raiseing for their trips, provided their own leadership, and
use their own facilites. I'm not saying that there is no place for Alpha
Phi Omega in Girl Scouts, but I am saying that the roles are going to
differ greatly.
