May it please the court:
I receiced a total of 44 replies to my survey. The results are as
follows.
>1. If you were given the opportunity to vote on a measure to
>eliminate the "gentlemen's agreement" and require all chapters to
>admit members of both genders, would you vote yes or no?
Yes: 10, 23%
No: 34, 77%
>2. If you were given the opportunity to vote on a measure revoking
>Brother Clinton's membership, would you vote yes or no?
Yes: 6, 14%
No: 36, 82%
Undecided: 2, 5%
>3. Do you feel that the words "men of" in the toast song should be:
> a. changed to "true to?"
> b. changed to "men of?"
> c. left the same?
A: 3, 8%
B or C: 24, 65%
Other: 10, 27%
13 people, or 35 percent, pointed out that B and C are the same, thus
indicating that I shouldn't send e-mail during midterms.
The people who responded represented 34 chapters and 2 section
staffs, with several representing multiple chapters. The "winner" was
Alpha Phi, with six brothers responding. The average chapter size was
22 actives, and the average chapter had been continuously active for
25 years.
Since everyone else has told me about their chapter, I might as well
return the favor. I pledged Alpha Xi chapter last year, when we had
two active members. We now have seven. Every member of last year's
pledge class holds an office--I'm VP Membership and pledgemaster. AXi
was first chartered in 1935, went inactive in 1972, and rechartered in
1994.
