So much for the spirit of brotherhood... or sisterhood, if you would
prefer. So, those who disagree with you are obviously "male jerks"
and therefore should be kicked out of APO for their *BELIEFS*? Wow,
that was *NOT* the kind of fraternity which I thought I pledged my
freshman year in college.
I'd like to point out that one of Frank Reed Horton's goals was to
eliminate the need for war, by finding and practicing better ways for
people to settle their differences (not his exact words, I'm sure).
Your thus far demonstrated attitude toward others who do not share
your views and your eagerness to take strong, punitive, and
reactionary action --- those are the kinds of things that make for a
fertile breeding ground for wars. Wars don't have to be fought with
guns and planes; they can be fought with words, and such wars
definitely cause messy fallout and collateral damage, too. The
question is whether we can keep discussions here on APO-L good solid
debates with reasoned pros and cons, or whether discussions will ---
or already have --- degenerate into war.
For the record, I am for making a change to the toast song to give
chapter the option of singing something other than "Men of" [although
somebody has quite reasonably pointed out that perhaps something other
than "true to" would lyrically work better]; against revoking
Clinton's membership but for de-emphasizing Clinton in our promotional
literature; and for preserving the grandfathered status of the
all-male chapters. I guess the latter two automatically makes me a
"male jerk" in your eyes. You're entitled to your opinions; but
you're certainly not entitled to my respect of you as my brother.
Guess where that respect has gone?
