The backup of rosebud is done.
The backup of ronald-ann failed with a tape I/O error, after
completing 188 of the 215 volumes. I don't have time to try redoing
it.
If you'll be at the SIPB meeting, please mention this in the backup
report (I'm logging out now and won't be there).
Also, here's the easiest way to redo the part that lost:
1) get the older tape labelled "RONALD-ANN 1" (from the left-hand
filing cabinet) and put it in the tape drive. It's the one with the
series of dates from 06-01-92 to 11-30-92, not the one used earlier
today.
2) get tokens on hodge for someone listed in system:administrators and
in /usr/afs/etc/UserList on ronald-ann. (Presumably, these will be
your tokens, not just "someone's", but at this point I'm not picky...)
3) /afs/sipb/project/newdump/backup.pl rann /rann_1 -noclone
4) wait 4 hours or so, depending on the load on ronald-ann and the
network. Eventually, you should see "Finished doing dump rann.rann_1
successfully" in the output.
5) control-C 3 times (yes, control-C, not sync :-)
6) find the processes running "@sys/butc" and "@sys/backup -cell sipb.mit.edu"
and kill them manually
7) compress -c /usr/tmp/backup.930405 > /afs/sipb/project/newdump/last/backup.rann.930405
compress -c /usr/tmp/butc.930405 > /afs/sipb/project/newdump/last/butc.rann.930405
8) write an entry on the tape label (after the 11-30-92 line), e.g.,
starting with "04-05-93 /rann_1", and put the tape back away
Incidentally, these are the volumes that definitely were not backed up
(because of the tape problem, others could possibly be unrecoverable,
too):
