It looks that way from src/butm/file_tm.c.

I haven't seen this problem before. What might have changed?
1) ThisCell on hodge was changed from sipb.mit.edu to athena.mit.edu
on Monday, but the machine hasn't since been rebooted.
-- not clear this would have any effect, unless each volume is
preceded with SomeLuserIsTryingToRunBackupFromAnotherCell
followed by 10 Mb of nulls, or something
2) We have more stuff stored in non-nb volumes than previously,
and maybe they happened to exceed the tape capacity for the
first time today.
-- the tapeconfig file says that the tape will hold 2000 Mb
(same as used in the athena cell, I'm told). We could reduce
this, e.g., by 10%, and hope we're prompted for a second
tape.
-- we could split the sipb volume set into two smaller ones
that will each fit onto one tape
-- we could convert more volumes to nb. This is a short-term
solution; eventually, we'll have more than one tape's
worth of stuff to back up.
3) Maybe there were a lot of errors on the tape. Parts of the tape
get skipped over, so less stuff fits.
-- maybe try one of the other regular tapes, or one of the new
QG-112MA tapes (in the cabinet behind milo)
