Subject: sipb stuff.
Okay, now I'm really winded. Here's the scoop:
>The following users have FILSYS entries pointing to NFS from charon.
>They should point to the appropriate account in
>/afs/sipb.mit.edu/user. Thus user "cmj" should point to
>"/afs/sipb.mit.edu/user/cmj".
> cmj, jay, jsl, marker, nlgilman, rk, simsong, lsp, aab, ankleand,
> hga, irene, rls,
Done, the change takes effect tomorrow.
>The following users appear to be registered "most of the way", but do
>not have filsys entries, and in some cases do not have pobox'es.
>Please either add the missing fields, or arrange for them to
>reregister. (See note about reregistering below). The new FILSYS
>entries should also point to /afs/sipb.mit.edu/user/foo.
> dfm, dmc, lai, mycroftt, rdz, sthumble, ucb, jim, lee, amy, dgg,
> srb, rlk
All have new filsys entries pointing to the sipb cell.
>The following user has everything except a POBOX:
>mlwiese
Not true. In fact everybody on the list has a pobox, just not a local
one. You can check where somebody's mail is going using Jay's expn
program in the consult locker:
% expn mlwiese
220 ATHENA.MIT.EDU Sendmail Fixed in the next release 5.61/1.2 ready at Mon, 25
Sep 89 20:05:53 EDT
250 <mlwiese@eagle.mit.edu>
221 ATHENA.MIT.EDU closing connection
Most everybody else's pobox points to charon.local.
>The following users need to be reregistered since they have been
>deactivated or never existed in the first place. In these cases, I
>don't know their social security numbers. Perhaps we can make up
>social security numbers for them, and then I can reregister them by
>hand. In all cases, the FILSYS entries should then point to
>/afs/sipb.mit.edu/user/foo. They should also be class 'SIPB'.
> dmc Dawn M Clarke --> this was in the above list, and now has a filsys
> dmk David Kushner --> only needed a new filsys
> hornig Charles Hornig --> only needed a new filsys
> romkey John L Romkey --> He's registered with password 'romkey'.
> york Bill York --> only needed a new filsys
> meltsner Ken Meltsner --> added and registered, password 'meltsner'
> djb Don Becker --> added and registered, password 'djb'.
> sl Stephen Levine --> added and registered, password 'sl'.
> akonishi Aya Konishi --> only needed filsys.
> gimbel Bill Gimbel --> added & registered password, try to guess.
> whbh Bill Habeck --> added & registered
> pws Petr Spacek --> added®istered
> barmar Barry Margolin --> only needed a filsys
> cpcolemn Charles Coleman --> added & registered
> gfitz George Fitzmaurice --> added & registered
> pae Phil Earnhardt --> added & registered
> bobf Robert Frankston --> added & registered
> salex Scott Alexander --> only needed a filsys
> billo Bill O'Neill --> only needed a filsys
> rsalz Rich Salz --> only needed a filsys
> libove Jay M Libove --> only needed a filsys
> hobbit Al Walker --> only needed a filsys
> wdstarr William D Starr --> added, with new gid.
All the gid's were preserved according to the list you gave me. In
one case, I had to change the UID for an un-registered grad student to
something else. All users should have filsys entries pointing to
/afs/sipb.mit.edu/user/$username. Passwords for new users are equal
to their usernames (if you hadn't already guessed).
>The following accounts should be deleted entirely.
>dm, dndobrin , ejs, faustus, foner, furin, janice, mac, rcl, sebarber,
>swa.
deactivated, will be purged whenever jis gets the itch.
It's possible that I may have made some mistakes. Let me know if you
have any problems. I talked to Ron Hoffman, and he said it was okay
to move the ${user}@charon.local forwards to ATHENA-PO-3.LOCAL. I
haven't done this, but I can do it tomorrow if you like.
