Rosebud had a rather nasty problem last night. It would not boot. The
root partition was messed up, and had to be re-installed over the
network. Marc, Richard, and I spent a great deal of time booting it
from floppy and getting it back up. It seems fine now, serving AFS and
all that.
The .klogin file is from ronald-ann, and I restored /etc/security/user
using Barry's perl script. If some of these users aren't supposed to be
there, (insecure passwords, etc.) then they'll have to be removed again,
but I couldn't find any good record of who's supposed to be there, etc.
Someone familiar with the customizations made to
/etc/athena/attach.conf, and which cells should be in
/usr/vice/etc/SuidCells, etc., should fix those, and document it
somewhere. It's a bit disturbing to find more information for binkley
in /afs/sipb/project/office-machines than for rosebud.
(Oh, and by the way, I'm not going to mention what I think of this,
because I'm a bit tired now, and I'm not feeling very self-restrained:
rosebud# pwd
/afs/sipb.mit.edu/project/office-machines
rosebud# file rosebud
rosebud: symbolic link to enterpoop
)
