OK, but the approach I was anticipating was to leave that disk on the
DECstation 3100 server (currently bloom-picayune, maybe later renamed
charon), and not move it to an AFS server. This would provide the
space needed by pit-manager services, e.g.,

   % tail -10 /afs/sipb/user/mhbraun/sipb/pit | head -3
   I *think* that about 300 meg would be enough disk space to start, but
   I also think that the services I've listed would eventually come to
   need more disk space than that.

Also, for the benefit of people unfamiliar with hardware costs, 1.2 Gb
of disk space currently is less than $2000. Often, a 5-year warranty
is included in the price.
