The problem with the "levels of remote" error is that your hesiod
information lists charon:/mit/plj as your home dir, which is in turn a
symlink to /afs/sipb/user/plj. You can't mount an AFS filesystem via
NFS. The easiest thing to do would be to change your Hesiod
information to point to AFS instead of Charon. I will do this for
you.
The quotas were "shrink wrapped" to the next higher multiple of 500K
(more or less) of current usage when files were copied over to AFS as
a general cleanup measure. I'll increase your quota. In general the
people who listen to sipb-afsreq can do things like change quota.
