backup problems on hodge

First of all, does anybody know why I had to install the symlink from
/usr/afs to /usr/vice again this week? I didn't have to do this on
the first three backups I did. Why have I had to do it for the last
two?
Second, will the person who created a "tapeconfig.31" file and linked
tapeconfig to tapeconfig.31 so that our backup software wouldn't be
able to read tapeconfig (Richard, I think it was you.) please remember
to restore the machine to its original state when done with it in the
future?
