The DLT drive has (finally) arrived, along with 13 data tapes
(20 GB/40 GB compressed) and 4 cleaning tapes (~24 uses). It is
currently installed on bill-the-cat. After some initial Solaris
problems, mycroft found the right configuration file to modify,
and the tape drive is performing well for tars and such.

The AFS backup utility is not yet available for use on Solaris.
The AFS 3.2 backup utility does not work on Solaris, and the 3.[34]
ones do not currently support the athena realms hack. Marc is
currently working on fixing this, and he successfully backed up
user.marc.backup (100 MB) in 5m 30s. He plans to do Monday's
sipb AFS backup onto the DLT.

The tape drive is next to btc (conveniently located so you can
yell at the person logged in to insert a tape), the manuals are atop
the drive, and the tapes are beside it. If you want to use the drive,
read the instructions on the handle. It'd probably be a good idea
not to eat on or near the tape drive. [It's probably also not a good
idea to use the TK50 tapes in the DLT drive, and vice versa. (They
are essentially identical.)]

The various tape devices are located in /dev/rmt/. Ones of
particular interest are:
      /dev/rmt/0c -- 20 GB+compression (~40 GB)
      /dev/rmt/0h -- 20 GB (no compression)

You can always detemine what mode the drive is in by the lights on
the left side.
