This is from memory, so the instructions may not be perfect:

log into hodge as root and start butc and backup (see
/afs/sipb/project/newdump/HOW*) for the specific incantation.  get
backup to give you help, ther should be a restore option. I don't
remember the exact options you want, but you need to specify a time,
you probably want to specify an extention to restore with so you don't
blow away the existing volume ( -extention .rst is a convention at
least in the athena cell), and I don't remember whether you have to
specify the volune or the volume.backup.  It should tell you which
tape to mount.  I know these directions a vague, so if you are unsure
of anything find me or another AFS admin to get clarification.
