Three things I forgot to mention:
* Just after the Micropolis disk wouldn't spin up the first
time, I accidentally power-cycled ronald-ann. No ill
effects apart from r-a not being accessible for twenty
minutes or so.
* ronald-ann was accessible for most of the outage period, so
the impact wasn't all that great.
* The Micropolis disk is now sitting near (but not in) its
enclosure in the cabinet.where we keep cables and things.
I'll call in for a replacement from R^2 (I'll see if I can
get them to ship us a new enclosure; not sure what I'll do
if they won't); it looks like we can keep the replacement
Micropolis disk and use it when we get a Sparc fileserver
from ops. More on this later.
