I just updated ronald-ann to run AFS 3.0Beta server software.
I installed the new software on ronald-ann, and rebuilt the vldb
(twice).
The new client software is in /afs/sipb/service/{rt_r3,vax_43}. The
output format of vos has changed; the backup scripts will have to be
fixed as a result.
There were a couple of volumes which were duplicates under the same
name, which I cleaned up.
I also created backups volumes for all the volumes with names
beginning with "user." and "project." using the new "vos backupsys"
command.
Notable changes:
prs/prserver renamed to "pts" and "ptserver" (prs conflicts with an
SCCS command, apparantly).
There's now a "bos salvage" command, which takes three forms:
bos salvage host -all
bos salvage host -partition x
bos salvage host -partition x -id 528123456
The first two forms shut down the fileserver for the duration of the
salvage; the third doesn't, so if there are some "damaged" volumes
floating around, it's possible to repair them without stopping &
restarting the fileserver.
I would be very careful about using bos & vos on the athena cell
fileservers.
The VAX version of vos should work more reliably now.
