One small comment:

I have only been observing this when it took place on charon-as-www and
anxiety-closet, but mostly this isn't done "right" when people don't
know how it "ought" to be done.
And it's not that much of a pain, and it keeps dorks like me from trying
to run emacs on an already heavily loaded machine.
