Note that this is considered a feature, because I'm not sure the Exabyte
will do something sane with a tape that switches between 8200 and 8500
formats mid-stream.  The right thing to do is to pre-prep all of the
tapes with an 8500 tape dump header ---- doesn't the AFS tape backup
software require this anyway?  So rewrite the header in high density
mode, and it should just all work....
