The AFS backup failed (with a tape I/O error) on the smallest
volumeset, even though it was done onto a new tape, and with a run of
the cleaning tape through the drive before starting. It seems that the
tape drive does automatically rewind the cleaning tape after
finishing, so I manually advanced the tape before starting.
I suppose it's possible that the cleaning tape also rewinds before
starting a cleaning pass (although it really didn't sound like it
did). I'm starting to suspect, though, that the tape-drive hardware is
failing in some other way that'll be more difficult to solve.
Anyway, rosebud b and c were finally backed up successfully, and I'll
look into doing the other partitions later in the week if I can.
