All of the afs server processes on ronald-ann except for ptserver
stopped running today at 5:28pm. ckclark killed the ptserver and
restarted bosserver at about 5:32. This all occurred while the afs
backup was about 90% of the way through ronald-ann's b and c
partitions. The backup log had the following:
Backup status: dumping volume project.gnu.src.backup, dumped 32621840 bytes so far.
backup> backup: Failed to check dump status
backup: server or network not responding ; Will schedule a retry
Backup status: dumping volume project.gnu.src.backup, dumped 47296760 bytes so far.
Backup status: dumping volume project.clisp.backup, dumped 47296760 bytes so far.
...
Finished doing dump rann.rann_3. 2 volumes of 139 had errors
project.gnu.src.backup was listed in the D757024081.db file, although
project.clisp.backup was not.
Also, the salvager on ronald-ann reported "invalid entry deleted" for
two (I'm told) important files in a user volume. I'll restore from
tape to a .old volume sometime later tonight.
