While working on picayune tonight, I logged into rosebud to run zwgc.
While I was there, I looked around and noticed:
/core - a coredump from inetd (not sure which one) sometime in the
past couple weeks. Now /usr/tmp/core.inetd
/vicepb/core - a coredump from salvager, sometime in the middle of the
summer. Does this contain any private data? It's now in
/usr/tmp/core.salvager.
errpt & /usr/adm/messages - these both indicate that rosebud's snmpd
is mildly unhappy about some crud or other. Is there a
compelling reason either way to run/not run an snmpd on our
AFS servers? The only thing I've ever heard on the subject
was Richard, saying essentially ``the rel-eng servers don't
run snmpd's''. Draw your own conclusions. ;-)
While I'm talking about Everyone's Favorite RS/6k, I think we should
stop running DB processes on it and see if the pts db problems go away
(and if they do, meantion them to Richard - remember, we're running
AIX3.2/AFS3.2? binaries that I don't believe are in production
anywhere else on athena (except maybe Tardis, which doesn't usually
count as a good test case. :-)
