Hotel Blown Up, 6 Dead! Many injured!
The Cat's Meow, a local hotel and popular night spot, exploded yesterday at
about noon. In what witnesses discribed as a "fantastic kaboom", a
fireball visible across town engulfed the hotel. At least 6 are dead,
including workers and guests. The hospital reported 13 injured persons
admitted by 1 pm. Emergency crews arriving at the scene found little more
than a gaping hole in the ground where the hotel once stood.
Angelique Blanc, owner of the Cat's Meow was at lunch when the blast occured.
She was "just devastated" by the explosion. "Who would do such a thing?' she
asked. Ms. Blanc had no idea who may have been responsible for the crime,
and expressed dispair at what she will do next. When she was told the
death count, she nearly broke into tears.

``We Will Shut Down Crime!'' Vow G-men
Crackdown Expected Within Twelve Days
Early this morning in Washington, the Bureau of Investigation announced that
it would be sending over 300 G-men to new Orleans to clean up the town and
put an end to rampant crime. They will begin arriving on Sunday the 26th of
this month. This comes on the heels of Monday night's murder of three G-Men
in Henry Park.
The Bureau chief called New Orleans a ``cesspool'' and claimed that organized
crime controls the city. He also accused the New Orleans Police Department
of being ``the most corrupt law enforcement agency in the country'' and
of actively working with the New Orleans mob and protecting them from
prosecution.
Local leaders expressed outrage at the action. Many thought it was
simply a ploy to get local officials to cooperate with unconstitutional
federal investigations. More than one local businessman said that the Bureau
is just looking for revenge for their three agents, and is taking it all out
on the people of New Orleans. ``Isn't that what we rebelled from England for?
To keep overpowerful government forces from taking their problems out on the
people?'' said one man who refused to be identified. Chief of Police Eddy
Bertucci called accusations of police corruption ``absurd.'' And Sheriff
Dulac asked ``has this Bureau Chief guy ever been to New Orleans? How can
he have an accurate idea about any of this? If I'm elected to the Senate,
I'll put an end to this kind of abuse of power!''
