In a marathon session last night, the California Legislature managed to
get through nine bills. Four passed; five failed. The details will be
in the news tonight. In the meantime, however, there are certain
immediate ingame effects:
* As a result of the passage of bill LR2268, the Coast Guard will
start patrolling the Los Angeles memorial site as of 6pm tonight.
Ingame effect: After 6pm, after a dive to a site, the coast guard picks
you up, hauls you back to shore, and yells at you for trespassing on the
memorial site for 5 minutes (standing on the beach. They flee if combat
starts, but let a GM know. If you dive again, you must take the
additional entering-the-water bends points.
* As a result of the passage of LR5990, the Bad Part of Town has
been cleaned up by police raids; there is nothing to get there anymore.
* As a result of the passage of LR7034, handguns are now illegal.
Until the bill is announced on the news, Law Enforcement officials have
been authorized only to confiscate illegal guns they encounter; after
the announcemnt is made on the news tonight, they are authorized to
arrest people they discover to be illegal gun owners. This bill applies
to all types of guns except spear guns. Gun permits cannot be gotten in
game-time.
