We here at the University of Kansas have been working on a new
version of GDB. This project, called SmartGDB, makes two major
changes to the original GDB. Firstly, it merges a scripting language
with the GDB command set. Second, we have provided a set of
extensions to make GDB thread aware. These two changes together may
make this a powerful debugging tool for threaded applications.

Our extensions to GDB allow support for multiple thread
packages. One of the packages it currently supports is your version
of Pthreads. (It should be noted that our product currently only works
on the linux version of Pthreads).

In order to support the ability to force a context-switch to a
specific thread, we made some minor changes to the thread library.
The text of these changes is available as a patchfile from our web
site.

We would welcome any questions/comments you might have on our project.

Have a nice day,

	Matt Peters (mpeters@ittc.ukans.edu)
	Robert Hill (rhill@ittc.ukans.edu)
