Shell spontaneously exits when running certain tests

Folks,
When I run test_execve or type a ctrl-C when running test_switch,
my shell exits after printing a bunch of messages like:
Use "exit" to leave csh.
I get this effect with 1_50 and 1_60_beta5. I am running on
SunOS 4.1.3. What might be causing this?
