You say libc ``comes with'' pthreads... what exactly does that mean?
My distribution of the libc doesn't have a libpthread, and only a few
pthread symbols show up in the libc symbol table. Is that because my
distributor (debian) threw it out, or must it be compiled separately?
What steps did you have to take to compile pthreads applications?

Also, what have you done to get X working correctly with
libc+pthreads? Does the thread-safe libc do all the right things with
an X library that's not compiled to be thread-safe? With beta4 pthreads,
I've had to recompile parts of the X library to prevent problems with
stdio macros. Is this necessary when using libc pthread support?

Thanks for any advice,
Bill Gribble
