Because, being a math major, I cannot get credit toward my
degree for any other probability course. I have only two math
restricted electives to take before I graduate. 18.313 is one
of the choices that I have, and I have felt handicapped at times
by lack of knowledge of probability. It is actually a very fun
class, but it does require a bit of mathematical sophistication
(though not more than is required by any other math class that a
math major would be likely to take --- 18.701, for example, is
much harder than this class.)

Any further discussion on this can be taken up with me via
personal mail since we have left the topic of the pqb
meeting.... :-)
