Actually, I much prefer that point of view... the next time your
plane leaves the ground, remember: the numbers and signs don't 
matter.  Just make sure that lift is in the upward direction, and
that the plane flies well enough.

I read once that in the hunt for the Bismark, a navigator for the
British fleet made a sign error.  They were going 180 degrees AWAY
from the Bismark until someone noticed that the sun was on the wrong
side of the ship...
