Why does it say the first two modes are deleted?  Does your Modes line
include 800x600 and 640x480?

Did you use the xf86config program to set up X, or did you write the
XF86Config file by hand?

Anyway, you can refer to /usr/X11/lib/X11/doc/README.Config for more
information.
