mail for nonathena user

i created an account for a nonathena user and it seems to work,
but when i try to send mail to it (blah@samoyed.mit.edu),
i (root@samoyed) get mail telling me it was an unknown user
at (blah@mit.edu, no samoyed).
The account can send mail fine, but the machine name gets
stripped when i send mail to blah@samoyed.mit.edu.
Is there a way that i can have this account receive mail?
