Hi there. I'm still working on getting that computer with the
3c590 (yes, 590) up and running. I'm getting the hang when
the "setting tty flags" pops up, and every time I try to use
'ed' to comment out that line from rc, I get a vm page fault/trap.
It also happens every time I try to make a backup copy of rc--every
time I try to write to disk, in short.

anybody ever have this before and/or know a workaround? a sneaky way
to change/switch rc, or control which version of it is downloaded?
all the network stuff works great until that line, which is ruining
everything. and being as how it can't boot, I can't get in there and
edit or ftp out the thing.

The way I was sneaking in before was to do a single-user boot, but that
way only led to kernel traps.

thanks!

John
