okay, so startx -- :1 worked for me.

which started to make me think maybe I can have two xlogins running on
my computer.
I tried just making a parallel to ttyv6 in /etc/ttys, and sending that
to a different config file that said :1.0 instead of :0.0, and vt8
instead of vt7, but it didn't work.
I also tried dm -noconsole, but that didn't work, either.

can this be done?
the xdm man page makes it seem possible.

Derek.
