Ok, I got a new computer, and am trying to install NetBSD on it. Yes, I still have that 3C590, but now I have an ATAPI CD, too. Well, it doesn't have to work right now. I've tried several kernels. First I tried whatever came with /afs/sipb.mit.edu/project/netbsd/dev/machine-specific/new-drivers/athena-other. That one worked, except when I try to log in most of the time it goes into the
debugger. Sometimes it waits until I try to write to the hard drive to crash. Then I tried getting the kernel from that tree rather than the one it gives me. Same thing. Then I tried a kernel that had been working on my old machine that came from a tree that I forget what it's called, but ghudson made it as a hack of the 1.1 tree that added some things like 3C590, PCMCIA, ATAPI, and I though Win95 long file name support. That kernel worked (except the long file name support) on my old machine, but now it executes a protected instruction or something that goes by real fast before it self-reboots.

If somebody can suggest a kernel that has a chance of working, I'd appreciate it.

Eric
