about the washed out colors thing... i really have no idea, nor the time
right now to look into it... but i have this same problem, and I'm
running NetBSD
there is a file in my Public directory on athena called
'remote_color.gif'
which is an image of 2 zephyrs, side by side, one from a local zwgc, the
other from a remote machine that's displaying on my display
the left one is remote, the right one is local
if you bring it up with xv, you can clearly see that the only color
which is getting messed up is red
on the LOCAL one, red is (rgb): 251 20 65
on the REMOTE one, red is: 255 0 0
please check this file out.. it's interesting
so, for some reason, red is not "pure" locally, as i see it
my machine statistics are at: http://goody.mit.edu/stats.html
thanx
