This is a known problem.  It should be fixed in the 7.7.1B patch
release.

/srvd/patch has a fixed detach binary; thus, if you log into your
machine and do "detach 6.111 6.863", it should detach the lockers
correctly (assuming your dotfiles follow the regular conventions for
setting your path).  However, when you reboot your machine, it will
always use /bin/athena/detach and won't detach unmounted NFS lockers.
