I'm trying to install NetBSD 1.1 on someone's computer (an NEC w/ Matxor hard
drive) and think I am getting problems from the ethernet card--a 3Com
Etherlink 3 PCI card. After I enter the machine's IP address, a message pops
up saying "This version of the NetBSD kernel has difficulty switching 3C509
cards to UTP interface". The next line prompts me with "Use what interface?"
I've tried just hitting enter, which brings up the prompt again. Tried tying
in both UTP and 3C509, both of which give me an unable to access network
error, and even tried entering random garbage, which gave me the same error,
leading me to believe it don't matter what I type in there. The message says
something about running "Ethercard" or some garbage like that and configuring
the interface. However, the card is fine and configured (netscape, etc, work
fine in windows) and there is no option on the setup utility that came with
the card that says anything about configuring the UTP interface. Any help?
