we have in general been reccomending that people with low memroy
opt for Linux, as it seems to have somewhat better performance
under low memory conditions.
However, I am aware of some people using NetBSD with 8 megs, and
not complaining vocally (in fact opting to use it over Linux which
was also installed).
This said, however, I would point out that 5 megs is EXTREMELY low,
and if you do either of those, I would reccomend you do NOT run X.
(and would suggest you go with Linux in this case).
