This is probably due to an incompatibility between 1.0A
from several months ago and 1.0A from about a month ago.

Although the easiest answer would be to upgrade the kernel,
unfortunately this would mean you will have to upgrade related
utilities too.

What I suggest is not using top until we have the 1.1 upgrade path,
and then everything should work easily.
