Hi,
I just reinstalled NetBSD and got it working last night. Last night
everything appeared to work fine, but this morning when I tried to log
in I got kicked back out by Xlogin. I saw lots of messages like
"TransConnect: Unable to open socket.. bla bla". I checked the
running processes and found that the X server had died. If I
press Ctrl-Alt-Bksp to manually exit X and force Xlogin to reload it
then my machine won't kick me out, but otherwise it does. Also,
I get this message immediately upon boot:
XLogin: child -1 exited with status 0
And this morning I also saw:
some error message about X (can't remember)
xcluster: usage: hostname
on my console. This behavior has also been found on other machines I
installed BSD on (smileys.mit.edu is latest example I can think of). Seeing
as how my previous installation had no such problems I can only think that
something has changed in either the kernel or XFree86. Relevant hardware list
follows:
ATI Graphics Winturbo (Mach64, 2meg VRAM)
Intel Pentium motherboard with Triton chipset
Any ideas? I would greatly appreciate it.
