Ok, I've taken down all the message my system spills out when I used 'reboot'.

I am using NetBSD 1.0A (ATHENA-AHA) #0, compiled on Mon Jun 19 20:21:13 EDT 1995.
when I type 'reboot', or 'halt' or even 'shutdown -r now', here is what happens,

syncing disks... COLD shutting down of: rx...
AFS shutting down wait-handlers
afs...shutdown
BkG...shutdown
vm_fault (f829c000, f8837000, 1, 0) -> 1
kernel: page fault trap, code=0
stopped at 0xf8809678: compl $0,0x2c(%esi)
db>

at the debugger prompt, I typed 't' , and here is the output,

_end (f87fe88c, f8778800, f76ffee0, f87f066b, f8778800) at 0xf8809678

All this don't mean a thing to me, but hopefully someone understands it.
Also, I've noticed that doesn't happen to an HP Pentium machine using AT1700 card,
in fact, reboot seems to fail only for Dell OptiPlex 466/Le with 3C509B card.

Any ideas?

david
