Sigh. I was just reminded of a problem with the symlinked "compile"
directory (the resulting "machine" and similar symlinks in the compile
directory won't point anywhere), so my instructions won't work.
Let me get back to you sometime in the next day or two. (You can
patch up the symlinks yourself if you want and make the build work, of
course.)
