for temporary space to tar up your /etc directory:
try using either bitbucket2, which is in AFS and
is never expunged.. (assuming you don't need /etc/ until
you have AFS running.. which is probably true) or put the
relevant files on a floppy..
(all you really need are the
/etc/group*
/etc/passwd*
/etc/master.passwd
/etc/XF86Config
/etc/X symlink (not the entire server)
/etc/athena/srvtab -- if you have one
/root/.klogin
/root/.cshrc
/usr/local/*
those are the files that you probably care for -- you will lose everything..)
to install.. print out the /afs/sipb/project/doc/netbsd/mit-install-current.dvi document
and follow the directions.. bascially, make one floppy with either the nfsaha.fs or the nfsbt.fs
kernel image, boot with it, and answer the questions.. (you just need one large partition, as before,
but this time, you don't need to know all the cylinder offset crap..)
