Hi,
ok, I've figured out that XFree 2.1.1 xconsole doesn't work, but XFree 3.1
does, for whatever reason. But xterm -C doesn't work from either 2.1 or
3.1 to show messages that normally go to /dev/console, so I decided to try
using the Athena console with "tail -f /var/log/messages" piped into it.
This works fine initially, but I can't pop it up once it unmaps itself!
Since I'm starting console not from dm, but rather in my .xinitrc file,
config_console complains that it can't find /var/run/console.pid. Is there
any way to use console in this fashion and still be able to pop it up after
it unmaps itself, or should I look elsewhere for ideas?
